We are proud to present our cleaners at Magbenteh Community Hospital in their new cleaning and protective gears. At Magbenteh Community Hospital, every role is vital, and will our cleaners, as always, make sure that the hospital is a clean and safe space for everyone.
The team of 7 Foday Dawo, Alie Sesay, Abdulai Tawawallie, James Fornah, Abdulai Kabia, Morlai Kargbo and Sheku Turay are fulltime employees and has been working with MCH since 2012. Back then, they were introduced and trained to respect the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidelines during the Ebola outbreak in 2014-2016. They handled their work properly and were able to overcome the epidemic working as front-line team. They are proud to say that MCH did not register any EVD case related to the cleaners.
One of the most important recommendations by WHO to fight the COVID-19 is sanitation and hygiene. MCH cleaning team is once again ready to be vigilant in their work. In March 2020, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has sent a representative to overview the applied prevention measures and the team training and has given the hospital board an immediate approval.
Although we fully trust in the cleaner team capacity and skills, we still lack important gear. N95 Masks, protective latex gloves and hand sanitizers are scarce in the Sierra Leonean market as the COVID-19 pandemic has been advancing. MCH has a basic inventory which can last for 2 months approximately, amidst the State of Emergency in the country and the closure of the airport, we stand hoping for helping hands.
